Balinese Style Carved Wooden Mythological Figure — Ornate Seated Sculpture, 6”

An intricately carved wooden figure featuring an expressive face, elaborate pointed headdress and a long curved feature extending across its seated body. Layered costume details, scrolling ornament and delicate dotted patterns create interest from every angle.

Warm brown wood and visible grain give this compact sculpture a distinctive presence on a bookshelf, console or cabinet of curiosities.

History & design: The carving resembles Bali’s rich woodcarving tradition, where mythical characters, deities and dramatic faces appear in sculpture, temple decoration and performance. Balinese artisans also produce smaller decorative figures using this visual language.

This is a stylistic comparison. The exact character, place of manufacture and date have not been confirmed.

Base marking: A dotted inscription is carved into the underside. Its reading and connection to a particular maker remain unverified.

Size: Approximately 6 inches high × 4 inches wide.

Condition: Surface wear, scratches, small chips and losses around projecting details, with pale marks on the underside. Please review all photographs.
