Black Obsidian Specimen — Sculptural Volcanic Glass, 4.5 × 4”

$55.00 USD

A dramatic black obsidian piece featuring glossy fractured surfaces, angular contours and contrasting flat-cut faces. Tan surface deposits and irregular edges add texture to its deep black finish.

A striking accent for a desk, bookshelf or cabinet of curiosities, bringing sculptural contrast to desert modern and minimalist interiors.

History: Obsidian is volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly. Its curved, shell-like fractures produce exceptionally sharp edges, making it valuable for blades, arrowheads and other tools throughout human history. Polished obsidian was also used for mirrors. This piece is offered as a decorative specimen; its geographic source and geological age are unknown.

Size: Approximately 4.5 × 4 inches.

Condition: Visible scratches, chips, fractures and tan surface deposits. Flat-cut faces show tool marks. Handle carefully; edges may be sharp.
