Born in Ithaca, NY and grew up in Southern California, artist Shane Townley has spent decades creating emotionally driven contemporary landscapes and mixed-media works inspired by the American desert, memory, and human connection. After years working in galleries from Laguna Beach to New York City, Townley returned to the High Desert where the vast openness of Joshua Tree became central to his artistic voice. His artwork has been collected nationally and featured in galleries, museums, and cultural spaces throughout California, Tribeca NY, Brooklyn NY and beyond.

Alongside his studio practice, Townley is deeply involved in supporting local arts culture through exhibitions, community events, and creative collaborations in Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley. His past projects include: Gallery 104 San Clemente (2004-2009), Townley Gallery, Laguna Beach (2009-2015), NYA Art Center in Manhattan (2015-2020), LagunaART.com gallery in the Mission Viejo Mall next to Nordstrom and the Apple Store (2021-2026), ARM - Alien Robot Museum (December 2024 - Current), Currently he's working on a larger museum project in Joshua Tree on 2.5 Acres.
