Biography

Shane Townley (b. 1972, Ithaca, NY) is an American contemporary artist based in Joshua Tree, California. Working primarily in painting and mixed media, Townley is known for atmospheric landscapes and abstract works exploring climate change, the natural environment, technology, and the human experience. Over a career spanning more than two decades, his work has been exhibited from Laguna Beach and Los Angeles to New York City and collected throughout the United States. Beyond his studio practice, Townley has founded galleries and collaborative art spaces, including the New York Art Center in TriBeCa, while continuing to support arts and cultural projects in California’s High Desert.
